ANKARA, March 11 (A.A) - Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit received on Monday Egemen Bagis, the President of the Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA).
Following the meeting, Bagis told reporters that he, accompanied by a delegation, was paying a visit to Turkey and that they informed Ecevit about their contacts.
Bagis said that they also gave information to Ecevit about last year's initiatives of the federation and their plans for the following term.
Their federation was exerting efforts to improve unity and solidarity among Turkish people living in the United States, Bagis noted.
Bagis stated that they would stress the theme ''Turkey, an intersection point of civilizations'' during the Turkish Day Parade to be held in New York on May 18, 2002.
When asked the point of view towards Turkey following the September 11th terrorist attacks, Bagis said that it was very relieving that Turkey was beside the United States in the fight against terrorism.
Bagis added that they believed that it was a good opportunity and ground to take a giant leap forward in tourism.
