Turkish School In Libya Tries To Stand On Feet With Its Own Possibilities

TRIPOLI, March 11 (A.A) - Turkish Republic Embassy Elementary School which has been operating in Libya for 19 years continues to educate 85 students with its own possibilities.
A total of 85 children, the mothers or fathers of whom are Turkish, are being educated in line with Turkish curriculum at the elementary school with nine classes, including the kindergarten.
There is a canteen, library, playing grounds, computer and science laboratories in the school which was built by a Turkish company in 1984.
Headmaster Ismail Ocalan told A.A correspondent on Monday that they were trying to meet the costs and needs of the school with fetes held once a year.
Ocalan said that the most important need of the students was books.
The library not only served the students but also the Turks living in Libya, the headmaster noted.
All the personnel of the Turkish school exert utmost efforts to support the school. For example, the personnel meet twice a week to prepare souvenirs with the materials they bring from Turkey to be sold at fetes.
The personnel underlined that Mufit Ozdes, the former Turkish Ambassador to Tripoli, had a significant role in the current good form of the school.
