LEFKOSA, March 11 (A.A) - Rauf Denktas, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Monday that they receive stronger documents about the missing people every day, adding that the Greek Cypriots have to make public the list of people killed in the coup staged against Makarios on July 15, 1974.
TRNC President said in his regular meeting with Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu and State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Salih Cosar that they could not get any response from Greek Cypriots after the document they submitted to the Greek Cypriot side about the missing people. Greek Cypriots still apply to courts about unacceptable claims about the missing people against Turkey, Denktas said.
Noting that the studies on the missing people continued and sound documents are found every day about the things done by Greek Cypriots, Denktas said that those who were killed during the coup were added to the list of people who died during the Peace Operation. Denktas expressed sorrow over the fact that they can't take humanitarian decisions about humanitarian issues.
Greek Cypriots continue to use the list of the missing people as a tool of propaganda in the world, said Denktas and noted that ''there is a big difference between covering up the realities and making peace.''
Underlining that Greek Cypriots have to know well how the incidents between 1963 and 1964 started and what was done to Turks in this period, Denktas said that one has to understand well the reasons of why Turks want more cooperation in a possible agreement, why they are suspicious of an integrated life and why they won't accept the abolishment of the guarantee system.
Denktas said that things are getting difficult as the others consider the special measures Turkish Cypriots want to take in order to prevent the re-occurance of incidents in the past, as unwillingness to come to an agreement and peace.
''Things will be easier if Greek Cypriots can say that 'let's give these rights covering special measures to Turkish Cypriots, they will see that there won't any need for these measures as we won't use them,'' Denktas said and noted that the direct talks on Cyprus will recess during the Easter in the beginning of May and between 21-15 April due to his visit abroad.
