TASHKENT, March 6 (A.A) - Turkish Military Attache Colonel M. Faruk Sengun submitted the military aid worth of 300,000 dollars to Uzbekistan on Wednesday.
Following the 1,5 million dollars of military aid to Uzbekistan to help this country in its fight with terrorism, the second portion of the aid worth of 610,000 dollars started to be sent to Uzbekistan.
Colonel Sengun said that the military aid worth of nearly 300,000 dollars was made up of training suits, cold weather equipment, mountaineering and other military equipment.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Sengun said that the transfer of the second portion of the military aid would continue in the coming days.
Sengun stressed that the two countries plan to sign another agreement on Turkey's sending 1,2 million dollars of new military equipment to Uzbekistan during the visit of Chief of General Staff Gen. Huseyin Kývrýkoglu to Taskhent in mid-March.
Noting that Turkey suffered a lot from terrorism and more than 30,000 citizens lost their lives and billion dollars of money was spent, Sengun said that the head of the terrorist organization was captured in Kenya by the resolution of the Turkish Republic and the Turkish Armed Forces and he was tried fairly in Turkey.
''There is a similar situation in Central Asian countries and Uzbekistan today. Turkey decided to send aid to Uzbekistan to prevent Uzbekistan from suffering from the same problem,'' Sengun said.
Noting that Turkish expert officers trained Uzbek officers for almost one year, Colonel Sengun said that ''the military support and training support which will also continue in the future will contribute to the installation of stability in Uzbekistan and in the region.''
Uzbek Colonel Serif Hikmetov, the Uzbek Defense Ministry Logistics Department Chairman said in his part that the aid was the sign of friendly approach of Turkey.
Thanking Turkey for the aid, Hikmetov said that ''this is not the first aid, the aid of Turkey will continue.''
