E.U. Commission: Istanbul Forum Has Been Very Useful Initiative Of Turkey

BRUSSELS, Feb 14 (A.A) - EU Commission's Spokesman Gunnar Wiegand said on Thursday that the OIC-EU Joint Forum held in Istanbul was a very important and useful initiative taken by the Turkish governemnt.
Responding to a question, EU Commission Spokesman Wiegand said that OIC-EU Joint Forum was a very important meeting.
The spokesman noted that the meeting showed that the EU and Islam countries were not in favour of clash of civilizations, the sides supported mutual understanding and cooperation and shared the same belief of common fight against terrorism. ''This meeting has been a very important and useful initiative of the Turkish government in taking advanced steps in this issue,'' he said.
Wiegand noted that the things told in Istanbul meeting would be taken into consideration by EU.
