ISTANBUL, Feb 13 (A.A) - Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara Fouad Yaseen said on Wednesday that the inclusion of France's two state proposal in the Middle East by the OIC-EU Joint Forum press release is a positive step.
Yaseen who talked to A.A on the phone said that the paragraph of the OIC-EU Joint Forum press release on the Middle East is positive.
The press release noted that ''The Forum underlined that for peace, stability and harmony to previal, the Middle East conflict must be settled in a just and comprehensive manner and in accordance with international law and the relevant Security Council resolutions. In this context, the 'two state' solution will contribute to bring peace and security to the peoples concerned.''
The issue of the Middle East and the way which it would be taken in the press release was a matter of concern for the Forum. Palestinian Foreign Minister Faruk Kaddumi, who attended the Forum told in his statements that the Middle East problem had to be more seriously taken up and the press statement had to condemn Israel.
The proposal of French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine is based on the view that the Palestinian state should not be recognized at the end of the peace talks, but in the beginning of talks as this will bring more positive contributions to the process.
Yaseen who had earlier commented to A.A on this proposal called ''French initiative'' noted that they didn't officially receive the proposal, but he had the impression from his contacts during the Forum that EU was warm to the French Initiative.
