ISTANBUL, Feb 12 (A.A) - Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Geoana arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday to attend the OIC-EU Forum.
Upon questions of journalists, Afghan Foreign Minister said that ''this is in fact a good will meeting. Starting such a relation between the Christians and Muslims was necessary. The meeting is a step taken forward to enable the two cultures to understand each other better. We are grateful for Turkey in this respect.''
Upon another question, Abdullah said that the reconstruction of Afghanistan was one of the issues to be taken up in the meeting.
Romanian Foreign Minister Geoana said in his part that holding such a meeting was important in respect of joining the Christian and Muslim countries.
When asked how he evaluated the membership of Bulgaria and Romania to NATO, Geoana said that ''we thank Turkey and Greece as they supported Romania and Bulgaria in this respect. We need such an alliance not only in the south of Balkans, but also in north.''
