ANKARA, Feb 11 (A.A) - Energy and Natural Sources Minister Zeki Cakan declared that the new oil bill was presented to the Prime Ministry when he spoke at a press conference on Monday.
He said that the bill would soon be opened to signature in the Council of Ministers and then it would be sent to Parliament. Cakan indicated that the bill aims to make the oil market function under market conditions.
The bill proposes to decrease the state's share in the oil sector and that the government would only be in charge of supervision and inspection activities through privatization. He also said that the bill aims to create a competitive environment and prevent unfair competition. Cakan also said that quality control would become very important if the bill passed.
