ANKARA, Feb 9 (A.A) - Feridun Celik, mayor of southeastern Diyarbakir province who is from the People's Democracy Party (HADEP) said on Saturday that closing HADEP would create new problems for Turkey.
Holding a joint news conference together with mayors from HADEP party, Celik claimed that certain circles in Turkey are worried about the possibility of HADEP's taking part in the parliament.
Celik alleged that ''closing HADEP which won 1,5 million votes in the country will cause disappointment for millions of people who want further improvement of democracy, human rights, basic rights and freedoms. We must act in a responsible manner and avoid from taking steps which will disturb the peaceful and tolerance atmosphere in the country. We must develop the free atmosphere in the country. Closing HADEP will end this process and block the future of Turkey.''
