ANKARA - Oger Telecoms joint venture group (OGG) offered the highest bid, 6.55 billion dollars in the tender opened to auction 55 percent stake in Turk Telekom on Friday.
The final bargaining talks were held with Oger Telecoms and Etisalat Partnership the same day.
During the bargaining talks between the two groups, firstly Etisalat joint venture group offered 6.3 billion USD of bid. Oger Telecoms joint venture group demanded a short period of time to consider the issue. Later Oger Telecoms joint venture group offered 6.45 million USD and then 6.55 billion dollars. This time Etisalat joint venture group demanded a short period of time to consider the offer. In the end, Etisalat joint venture group did not rise its bid and withdrew from the tender of Turk Telekom.
Therefore Oger Telecoms joint venture group offered the highest bid, 6.55 billion USD at the sixth round.
Privatization Administration Board Chairman Metin Kilci said that the tender was completed technically and OGG gave the highest bid.
After Competition Board presents its view on the tender, the result of the tender will be presented to the cabinet.
Meanwhile 6.55 billion dollars that has been offered by OGG is the highest amount that has ever been offered in privatization tenders concluded in Turkey to date.
