LEFKOSA, Feb 5 (A.A) - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas has said that peace can be attained in Cyprus only if realities are accepted.
The TRNC president said the Greek Cypriot side didn't want to accept the existence of the Turkish Cypriots and this was the root of the conflict.
''There could be no unification between the two states if they don't accept each other's existence. If they make an agreement before they accept this reality, millions of problems would arise later,'' he said.
Denktas received a delegation headed by Turkey Aikido National Team Director Yalcin Yenice on Tuesday.
Denktas stated that sanctions that are imposed on the TRNC was a ''shame of humanity.''
Later, Yenice briefed Denktas about the aikido sport. There are no competitions in aikido unlike taekwondo. Yenice defined aikido as a ''meditation with movement.'' Yenice also said that women were learning this sports against purse snatchers.
