Unemployment Rate Estimated As 10.9 Percent

ANKARA - The unemployment rate was estimated as 10.9 percent for the period of February-March-April 2005.
The State Institute of Statistics (SIS) announced results of ''Household Labor Force Survey'' for the three-month period beginning in February.
The total employment was estimated as 21.1 million persons, and the employment rate was estimated as 47.1 percent while the total unemployment was estimated as 2.5 million persons, and the unemployment rate was estimated as 10.9 percent for the same period.
Labor force participation rate became 47.1 percent.
The unemployment rate is 13.3 percent in urban areas and 7.5 percent in rural areas.
In 2005, SIS started to announce results of Household Labor Force Survey in every month based on the moving averages of three months. The results will be called with the name of middle month in order to simplify expression.
A total of 31,470 sample households and 86,743 household members 15 years old and over, were interviewed in this term.
