KANDAHAR, Jan 29 (A.A) - Ten of the sixteen U.S. soldiers who were injured in a helicopter accident in eastern Afghanistan were evacuated to the U.S. military base in Incirlik near southern province of Adana.
Colonel Frank Wiercinski said on Tuesday that those soldiers had been injured in a helicopter accident while on a combat mission in eastern Afghanistan.
He said the accident was not caused by hostile fire but there were hostile forces in the area.
Meanwhile, U.S. Army said the pilot of the CH-47 Chinook apparently failed to see holes in the ground at the landing site due to darkness and dust.
