TERIM AFTER NINE YEARS
Fatih Terim was appointed as the new coach of Turkish national football team. Terim, who has become the coach of this team after nine years of interval, will sign a five-year contract.
TURKEY HAS UPGRADED IN WORLD SCIENCE LEAGUE
In a survey of the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI), Turkey has become the second country in the world, the scientific articles of which increased the most in the last ten years. In this survey, Turkey published 65,126 scientific articles in the last ten years, and ranked the 26th in the world.

TERIM RETURNS BACK
Fatih Terim has agreed to coach Turkish national soccer team. He has accepted the Football Federation's offer to coach the national soccer team. Sources said that Terim would sign a contract for five years, stating that he would earn nearly 2 million USD a year.
ARINC WARNS AKP
Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc warned the Justice and Development Party (AKP) to keep its promise on headscarf issue. Arinc gave Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan the message that the government should solve headscarf problems and imam hatip high schools (schools that give theological education).

SSK MORE EXPENSIVE THAN PRIVATE HOSPITALS
Hospitals of Social Security Agency (SSK) are more expensive than private hospitals. After private hospitals accept patients who are insured with SSK, the state expenses decreased by 40 percent.
ERDOGAN SAYS DEPUTIES HAVE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that as long as a high increase was not made in wages of civil servants, wages of parliamentarians would not be increased. He noted that parliamentarians had some financial difficulties.

CEM UZAN HAS 170 MILLION USD IN SWITZERLAND
Ahmet Erturk, the Chairman of Savings Deposits Insurance Fund (SDIF), said that the Fund had sent letters to everybody including President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok to prevent sale of Uzan's properties. The sales will be launched ten days later. Noting that Uzan Group still had accounts in international banks, Erturk said, ''they have 170 million UBD in an account in Switzerland. We have blocked this money. But, neither we nor the Uzans can use it.''

CALL FOR PEACE AGAINST TERRORISM
Politicians showed great interest in intellectuals' call for ''a fair life in peace''. Political party administrators said that everyone should do what was necessary to make true this call, demanding that terror should be ended.
SENER: ''OUR DEBT IS VERY HIGH. IT SHOULD BE DECREASED''
Turkish State Minister Abdullatif Sener said that Turkey's debt stock was very high, noting, ''high increase in debt is a big risk for economy. We should have a lower debt stock.'' Sener stressed that they decreased some taxes, but it was not enough, adding that Turkey needed a tax reform.

FIRE PANIC IN BODRUM
As fire that started in fields and spread to houses in Aegean town of Bodrum, people panicked. 30 hectares of land was burnt in the fire which was taken under control in four and a half hours.
SUMMER WORK FOR THE UZANS
Savings Deposits Insurance Fund (SDIF) Chairman Erturk said that Uzans' companies will start to be sold in ten days, and noted, ''we expect 2.7-5.4 billion YTL (New Turkish Liras) of income from the sale.''

EURASIAN ECONOMY SUMMIT TO BE HELD IN ISTANBUL
The Eighth Eurasian Economy Summit, which aims to improve Turkey's cooperation with its neighbors, will be held in Istanbul between July 5th and 7th. Dr. Akkan Suver, the Chairman of the Marmara Group Foundation, said, ''the world will watch Turkey for three days.''
MARCH 1 WAS A HISTORIC MISTAKE
Retired general Sinasi Demir, who was the guest of Mehmet Soysal, the editor-in-chief of TGRT HABER TV, said, ''March 1 motion (the motion allowing foreign troops in Turkey and sending Turkish troops abroad) should have been passed. They said our soldiers might have been killed those days. However, the number of Turkish drivers killed has exceeded 100. They are treating Turkmens as if they are terrorists, and we are only watching this.''

HOUSING LOAN STILL HIGH, WAIT FOR MORTGAGE
Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener thinks that housing loans, granted by the banks with the slogan 'low interest', in fact have high interests. Comparing the interest rates with the mortgage system, Sener recommends people to wait for this law (the law on mortgage system).
THREE TERRORISTS KILLED IN SIRNAK
Three terrorists were killed in an operation staged by security forces against the terrorist organization PKK/Kongra-Gel in Idil town of (southeastern city of) Sirnak. Clash erupted between the security forces and terrorists as terrorists opened fire on the security forces despite they were called on to surrender. Three terrorists were killed in this clash.

SERDENGECTI: ''GROWTH RATE WILL EXCEED 5 PERCENT''
Central Bank Governor Sureyya Serdengecti attended a conference organized by Turkish Bankers' Association in London, Britain. Serdengecti said that Turkey's growth rate would exceed 5 percent this year. Serdengecti noted that Turkish economy was stabilized with reforms that had been fulfilled in four years.
