No Crisis Is Expected In Electric Energy Until 2006

ANKARA, Jan 29 (A.A) - Energy and Natural Resources Minister Zeki Cakan said on Tuesday that he didn't expect any crisis in meeting the demand of electric energy until 2006.
Responding to a question with notice submitted by Felicity Party (SP) Ankara deputy Zeki Celik, Cakan said that natural gas combit circles are expected to operate in the first quarter of this year.
Cakan noted that energy saving measures will continue to be implemented.
''Turkey is still not self-sufficient in respect of production of electric energy,'' said Cakan and noted that Turkey imported electric energy of 3 million kilowatt hours in 2000.
Cakan stated that they adopted regulations to enable also the private sector to invest in the sector in order to meet the increasing electric energy.
