ANKARA - A seminar on Israeli economy and high technology was held in Ankara on Wednesday.
Addressing the seminar, Chairman of Turkish-Israeli Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahit Kirisci said that ''the cooperation between Turkey and Israel was important albeit the two-billion-dollar trade volume, between the two countries, didn't reflect the true potential'', he said.
In addition to the cooperation in services, goods and tourism sectors, the two countries should also cooperate in sectors of high technology and information technology, he added.
Melih Yurter, a representative from the Union of Turkish Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) referred to the agreement signed between the two countries on research and technology during Turkish Premier Erdogan's recent visit to Israel. Yurter stressed that the seminar was held at the right time to help in the implementation of that agreement.
Israeli Trade Chamber official Israela Mani said that there were important business opportunities between Turkey and Israel.
Chairperson of Israeli Electronics & Information Industries Association Elisha Yanai said that Israel regarded Turkey as a very important country and the two countries played a key role in the Middle East. Yanai also called Turkey to take part in the high technology sector in the world.
