European Commission Closely Monitors Developments In Human Rights, Voegle

ANTAKYA - The European Commission closely monitors developments in Turkey regarding human rights and political criteria, Michael Voegle, the head of the financial cooperation, institutional structuring and NGO department of the European Commission's Delegation to Turkey, said on Wednesday.
Voegle, who visiting Mustafa Karabacak, the deputy governor of (southern city of Hatay), said that the European Commission was working on a progress report for Turkey, which is expected to be made public in October.
Underlining the importance of improvements to be made in Turkey's social and economic situation, Voegle said, ''we closely monitor developments regarding political criteria and human rights. So, we have many questions to ask especially about these matters.''
A group from the European Commission's Delegation to Turkey earlier visited southern cities of Adana and Mersin.
