''Today is June 22nd. If 'there will be no change', the parliament will recess nine days later (July 1st). And, the ruling party (Justice & Development Party-AKP) MPs will convene at the Bilkent Hotel (in Turkish capital of Ankara) on July 2nd,'' writes columnist Yavuz Donat in his editorial published in today's edition of Sabah daily.
Donat writes: ''the past year will be assessed during this meeting. Parliamentarians had criticized ministers during AKP's 'Kizilcahamam camp' (the AKP meeting held in Ankara's Kizilcahamam town) last year. 'The stage reached' after these criticisms will be discussed in Bilkent meeting on July 2nd.''
''This year global economic parameters are positive; but, from this positive outcome there is nothing reflected to man-in-the-street. Rise is observed in investments; but, there is no decrease in unemployment. The government is inviting foreign investors; but, there is no serious foreign capital inflow,'' affirms Donat.
''And regarding the EU, there are many contacts, statements and promises; but there is not any positive outlook. Even (Guenter) Verheugen, the former European Commissioner who is known as the person carrying Turkey to the EU (European Union), has started to wriggle out saying, 'Turkey's membership is open-ended. Full membership is not a must','' also writes Donat.
Donat concludes: ''let me say what will happen some time later. Turks in Europe will be told, 'take this incentive premium and return to your country, and take care of yourself'. We care much about Bilkent meeting which will be held in days 'when the wind is blowing from the opposite side, and when the bus is having difficulties in climbing the slope'.''
