Gurkan Criticizes European Countries For Sheltering P.K.K. And D.H.K.P.-c.

STRASBOURG, Jan 24 (A.A) - Council of Europe Parliamentarian Assembly chief of Turkish delegation Uluc Gurkan criticized European countries for offering shelter to terrorist organizations PKK and DHKP-C.
The Assembly General Council discussed and approved a report entitled ''Fight Against Terrorism and Respect for Human Rights'' on Thursday in Strasbourg.
During the discussions on the report, Gurkan said ''The only thing that makes PKK and DHKP-C different from Al Qaeda organization is that these organizations have friends in Europe.''
Gurkan criticized European countries for not including PKK and DHKP-C in the list of terrorist organizations and stressed that Turkey expects Europe to participate in its fight against terrorism.
Gurkan also pointed out that human rights should not be violated during the fight against terrorism.
The report which was accepted at the Assembly says terrorists should not be returned to countries which have capital punishment. It also advises not to return criminals who face the risk of being tortured or mistreated at prisons.
The Assembly underlined that financial resources of terrorist organizations should be eradicated and international cooperation against terrorism should be increased.
The Assembly called on all countries to sign the existing agreements regarding terrorism and it also warned that the countries should also respect international agreements that guarantee human rights during the fight against terrorism.
