LONDON - Rising Swiss youngster Jonas Elmer is set to become the latest signing by English Premiership champions Chelsea.
The 17-year-old was undergoing a medical in London on Tuesday subject to joining from Swiss giants Grasshopper Zurich.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is impressed by the left-sided player's potential after he was recommended by Chelsea scout Gwyn Williams.
Mourinho while keen to add some expensive names to his squad is also eager to bolster the team with some signings for the future.
Elmer, who will join Chelsea on a three-year deal, is a highly-rated Switzerland under-17 international and will initially join as part of the reserve team set-up and continue his education while with Chelsea.
Elmer becomes the latest Swiss player to move to a Premiership club with Reto Ziegler joining Spurs last year and Arsenal ready to give highly-rated central defender Philippe Senderos - who kept England international Sol Campbell out of the side for the FA Cup final - a new deal.
