ANKARA, Jan 23 (A.A) - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem talked to Palestinian International Cooperation Minister Nabil Shaath on the phone on Tuesday.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Huseyin Dirioz, who addressed a weekly news briefing, pointed out that Foreign Minister Cem talked to Shaat on the phone yesterday, and that he got information about the recent situation in the Middle East, difficulties, and the situation of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
Pointing out that visit of the Palestinian minister was foreseen to Turkey, yet that it was postponed due to his health conditions.
Dirioz said Turkey was sorrowful over the recent situation in the Middle East, adding that Turkey was ready to its best in this respect.
Ankara, which is in close contact with the two sides, conveys the messages that the sides wanted to send each other.
Israeli Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Avi Gil and Defense Ministry Undersecretary Amos Yaron had held contacts in Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
