Anti- U.S. Protest In Incirlik

ADANA - A large group of protestors gathered in Incirlik village of southern city of Adana today to demand the closure of the Incirlik Airbase.
The protestors came to the region by buses under tight security by Turkish gendarmerie forces.
Spokesman for the protestors Mehmet Ates defended that the U.S. military is currently conducting a massacre in the Middle East.
''The Incirlik Airbase is being used by the U.S. military for its plans concerning the Middle East. 88 percent of the Turkish people is against the U.S. Making Incirlik Airbase available for U.S. troops and extending the period in which the Incirlik Airbase can be utilized are being a part of the invasion of Iraq. All foreign bases, including Incirlik must be closed down,'' remarked Ates.
The protestors left the scene after chanting slogans. Among the participants in the protest were members of Labor Party, Democratic People's Party, Human Rights Association, Egitim-Sen, Haber-Sen, Health Workers Union and Socialist Platform of the Oppressed.
