ISKENDERUN - Family of Turkish businessman Ali Musluoglu, who was supposedly kidnapped by insurgents in Baghdad, is waiting for his return home safely.
Ali Musluoglu's brother Ahmet Musluoglu has asserted that, despite their applications filed with authorities, the Musluoglu's family has not received any response from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad.
''It has been a month since my brother was kidnapped by insurgents. To this day, we have not heard any message from Turkish authorities,'' commented Ahmet Musluoglu.
Ahmet Musluoglu indicated that his brother Ali was kidnapped with his Iraqi translator Kafi Muhammad Ibrahim. ''The insurgents called us on June 7th, demanding one million USD of ransom in four days. Although the period insurgents gave passed, we have not heard from them,'' said Ahmet Musluoglu. ''My brother's wife, his seven children and we are anxiously waiting for his safe return home.''
Ali Musluoglu, a shareholder of Turkish Musluogullari Transportation company, was carrying pre-fabric housing units for the U.S. troops in Iraq. Three trucks that Ali rented were burned while six others were seized by the insurgents.
Musluoglu is thought to have been wounded in the fire opened by American soldiers who were supposedly drunk, on June 18th. Musluoglu's driver Faysal Demir is believed to have been killed in this U.S. fire.
