STRASBOURG, Jan 21 (A.A) - European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) announced Monday that it found Turkey and Italy guilty in more cases last year than any other countries.
ECHR President Luzius Wildhaber said at a press conference that Italy and Turkey got 359 and 169 convictions, respectively.
France comes third on the list with 32 convinctions, Britain comes fourth with 17 convictions and Poland comes fifth with 14 convictions.
As for the awaiting applications, Turkey comes first with 3,142 files followed by 2,100 files.
The court received 1,147 applications from Turkey last year.
ECHR officials stated that there has been a drop in the number of applications coming from Turkey compared to previous years.
