Greek Cypriots Cannot Open Embassy In Ankara At The Moment, Talat

LEFKOSA - The Greek Cypriot administration cannot open an embassy in Turkish capital of Ankara before the Cyprus problem is solved, President Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Thursday.
``Because, Turkey does not accept the Greek Cypriot administration as a legal and legitimate government, I don`t think this (opening of Greek Cypriot embassy or representation in Ankara) is possible,`` said Talat.
WILL EU KEEP ITS PROMISE?
Stressing that the European Union (EU) should make a new assessment (regarding Cyprus problem), Talat said, ``the EU should decide whether or not it will keep its promise to lift the embargo against the Turkish Cypriots.``
``EU promised us to extend financial assistance and start direct trade. And, it did not ask us to `give something to the Greek Cypriot administration` in return. But unfortunately, these matters are discussed today. Despite all our flexibility, the Greek Cypriot side has obstructed these talks as well as direct trade,`` added Talat.
