ISTANBUL - Prosecutor Rasim Isikaltin requested on Thursday the Istanbul High Criminal Court no: 3 to sentence Alaattin Cakici, head of a criminal gang, up to 20 years in prison for attempting to kill stock exchange dealer Adil Ongen.
During a hearing at the Istanbul Criminal Court no: 3, Isikaltin said that it was evident that Cakici had incited his men to kill Ongen. Isikaltin requested the court to sentence Cakici to an imprisonment term between 13-20 years.
According to the indictment, Cakici ordered his men to kill Ongen. They staged an armed attack on Ongen on March 12th, 1997. Ongen survived the attack, but his chauffeur Huseyin Yolcu was slightly injured.
