GAZIANTEP, Jan 17 (A.A) - Exports of fresh fruits and vegetables and industrial products from the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region in 2001 decreased 11.6 percent to 88 million 270 thousand U.S. dollars.
In 2000, the region exported 99 million 794 thousand U.S. dollars of fresh fruits and vegetables and industrial products.
Gaziantep-based Southeast Anatolian Exporters' Association told the A.A on Thursday 20 million 273 thousand U.S. dollars in chemicals, 22 million 155 thousand U.S. dollars in iron, 7 million 746 thousand U.S. dollars in cement, 15 million 977 thousand U.S. dollars in textiles, 10 million 882 thousand U.S. dollars in electricity-electronic, and 11 million 237 thousand U.S. dollars in fresh fruits and vegetables.
Most of the products were exported to Middle Eastern countries and to member countries to the European Union (EU).
