Turkey's Permanent Representative To Unesco Takes Office

PARIS, Jan 16 (A.A) - Bozkurt Aran, Turkey's new Permanent Representative to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), officially took the office on Wednesday.
Aran, who submitted his credentials to UNESCO Secretary General Koishiro Matsuura, once more brought the demolition of al-Ajyad Fortress by Saudi Arabia into the agenda during the meeting.
Bozkurt Aran expressed Turkey's uneasiness about the demolition of the fortress and asked UNESCO not to be late in reacting to the demolition.
Turkey had officially launched an initative in the UNESCO to warn Saudi Arabia.
Aran had earlier worked in Salzburg, Kuala Lumpur, and Washington D.C. Aran, who had been the Consul General in Dusseldorf, worked as the deputy general director for European Affairs at the Foreign Ministry for a long time and later appointed as Turkey's Ambassador to Pakistan.
Bozkurt Aran, who also worked as the general director for bilateral economic relations, was appointed as Turkey's Permanent Representative to UNESCO.
