ANKARA, Jan 15 (A.A) - State Minister Mehmet Kececiler received on Tuesday World Bank's Turkey Representative Ajay Chhibber.
Following the meeting, Kececiler told reporters that they had asked for an additional loan of 30 million U.S. dollars from the World Bank to buy x-ray devices to Gurbulak, Habur, Dilucu and Hopa border gates.
Kececiler said that automation, which was the first stage of modernization of customs, had been finalized and noted, ''we have reached a very beneficial result in the end of the meeting. They congratulated us and said that a very good project is being implemented.''
They had taken 42 million U.S. dollars of loan from the World Bank for the modernization of customs so far, Kececiler stated.
Kececiler said, ''we are buying x-ray devices for our customs in the east with that loan. We have demanded a new loan from the World Bank worth of 30 million U.S. dollars to buy x-ray devices to Gurbulak, Habur, Dilucu and Hopa border gates. We have also exchanged views about the restructuring of customs administration. We noted the measures that should be taken for more efficient initiatives.''
Upon a question, Kececiler said that Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit's visit to the United States was not brought to the agenda of their meeting.
