MILAN/ANKARA (AA) - Partner of Koc Financial Services Italian banking group UniCredit has announced that it expects Turkey's entry negotiations with the European Union (EU) to begin on October 3rd.
In its analysis, UniCredit said that the ''no'' votes in France and the Netherlands on the EU Constitution will not have an impact on the negotiations with Turkey.
UniCredit's report indicated that the entry negotiations will consume a great amount of time. ''The continuation of reforms in Turkey is essential on the way to full EU membership,'' it said.
The UniCredit analysis suggests that Turkey's success will not solely depend on the decisions made by the EU. ''Rather,'' the analysis stresses, ''Turkey's firm decision to continue reforms will be more influential on the outcome of entry negotiations.''
Finally, the UniCredit analysis mentioned that certain developments such as the referenda in Europe will not have an impact on foreign investments in Turkey.
