Turkish Historical Society Chairman Prof. Yusuf Halacoglu can face imprisonment in Switzerland for his recent comments that ''no Armenian genocide took place.'' In Yerevan, Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy from Balikesir Turhan Comez has not met any reaction from Armenian deputies or scholars during his speech that rejected all allegations of an Armenian genocide.
OYMEN: ''TURKEY IS NOT A STRATEGIC PARTNER OF THE U.S.''
Turkish Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy leader Onur Oymen has remarked that Turkey is not a strategic partner of the United States. ''You do not place a military embargo on your strategic partner. You do not put plastic bags on the heads of the soldiers of your strategic partner. A strategic partner has to give support in the fight against terror and on Cyprus,'' told Oymen.

According to former Turkish president Suleyman Demirel, it is Recep Tayyip Erdogan's right to become the next president of Turkey. ''Erdogan's wife may be wearing headscarf. This does not constitute a barrier for Erdogan's presidency. There is large public and parliamentary support behind Erdogan,'' said Demirel.
ERDOGAN: ''THIS PARLIAMENT WILL ELECT THE NEXT PRESIDENT''
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan talked to reporters on the way to Turkey from his trip to the United States. ''Anti-American sentiments will not help the relations. BAYKAL TO MEET SOCIALISTS IN SPAIN
Deniz Baykal, the leader of (main opposition) Republican People's Party (CHP), will leave for Spanish capital of Madrid today (Sunday) to attend the meeting of Chairmanship Council of Socialist International. A new chairman will be elected during this meeting.
ONE MORE TURKISH DRIVER KILLED IN IRAQ
A Turkish lorry driver was killed in the north of Iraqi capital of Baghdad. Iraqi police said that unidentified assailants staged an attack on a lorry 100-kilometers north of Baghdad. No information has been received about the identity of the killed Turkish lorry driver.

ERDOGAN: ''NO EARLY ELECTION''
In response to Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal who said that early election should be held, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated, ''Baykal should not exert efforts regarding this issue. Early election will not be held before 2007.''
PM ERDOGAN SAYS TURKEY IS A STABLE COUNTRY
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended a reception hosted in his honor by the Turkish community living in the United States. Addressing the reception, Erdogan said that he held positive meetings in this country. ''We had meetings about the investments of the big American companies and businessmen in Turkey. Turkey is a stable country and the economic parameters in Turkey are on the rise. Turkey stands on its feet,'' Erdogan said.

INDIRECT TERRORISM WARNING TO SYRIA
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Syria, and said that ''if Damascus administration continued to shelter terrorists, it would be left alone.'' Erdogan noted that Turkey did not approve oppressive regimes, and added that there was nothing it (Turkey) could take as an example from Syria.
CONFIDENCE IN ECONOMY OVER
Despite partial stability assured in macro-economic figures, the confidence of real sector and consumers which indicate the confidence in economy sank to the bottom in the last one and a half years. Ten percent decrease was observed in confidence of consumers, while this fall was 5 percent in confidence of real sector.

The new dispute between the ruling party and the opposition party is the presidential election. Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal stated that early election should be held in 2006, noting that new parliament should elect the president of Turkey. In response to Baykal, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that early election would harm the country.

PORTUGUESE DUE IN TURKEY TO INVEST
The giant companies of Portugal will arrive in Turkey at the end of this month to invest in our country for the first time. Turkey plans to increase its trade volume with Portugal to 1 billion Euros. It is currently 500 million Euros.
