ANKARA (AA) - Tepe-Akfen Vie Investment, Building and Management Inc. (TAV) won on Friday the tender to operate the domestic and international terminals of Istanbul's Ataturk Airport for 15.5 years.
The tender had been opened by the Directorate General of State Airports Authority (DHMI) which announced that TAV won the operation right of the terminal for 15.5 years by offering to pay 2.95 billion dollars.
TAV's CEO Sani Sener told reporters that TAV completed the construction of Ataturk Airport terminal in 22 months and operated it for 4.5 years. This period would finish on July 3rd, 2005 and as they wanted to continue operating the terminal, they offered the highest amount (in Turkey's privatization history to date) by leaving behind their commercial concerns.
Sener remarked that TAV would pay 23 percent of the bid in cash (including Value Added Tax) and the remaining amount at the beginning of each operation period.
