NO SUPPORT AGAINST PKK
The U.S. and European press said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for more support for fight against terrorist PKK organization, yet that this demand was not met.
Washington Post claimed that U.S. President George W. Bush praised Turkey as it's close and democratic ally in the Middle East yet did not meet Turkey's demands for more support to defeat PKK.
Stating that Erdogan went to Washington to get more support against PKK, the newspaper said number of Turkish soldiers killed by the PKK terrorists in the recent months was more than U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq in the same period.
ANOTHER TURKISH DRIVER KILLED IN IRAQ
Turkish driver Yunus Akar (50) was killed in an attack of insurgents on a convoy in Baghdad, Iraq. The insurgents killed Akar in the truck on a motorway in south of Baghdad. Relatives of Akar were shocked after getting the news.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is currently paying a state visit to the United States, met UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in New York. During the meeting, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''it is time to reward the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) which supported the peace plan in last year's referendum.''
TUZMEN POSTPONES HIS VISIT TO SWITZERLAND

REPORT SHOULD BE APPROVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Erdogan said in the meeting that the report which also includes lifting of isolations imposed on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be approved at the UN Security Council as soon as possible.
EXPLOSIONS AT FIREWORKS WAREHOUSE: 6 DIE
Six people died in explosions at a fireworks warehouse in Istanbul. A series of explosions occurred at a depot in Umraniye. Firefighters quickly brought a blaze at the warehouse under control and recovered the bodies of six people.

BUDGET YIELDS SURPLUS OF 1,681 MILLION YTL
The budget yielded a surplus of 1,681 million YTL in May 2005. Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan announced the budget figures, stating that the primary budget surplus was 5,907 million YTL. Unakitan said, ''in May, the consolidated budget expenses were 12,186 million YTL, the non-surplus budget expenses were 7,961 million YTL, and the consolidated budget revenues were 13,867 million YTL.''
PM ERDOGAN TO OPEN 11TH ARAB ECONOMIC FORUM
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will open the 11th Arab Economic Forum which will be held in Beirut between June 16th and 17th. Except Arabian countries, only Turkey will attend the forum as honorary guest as it is a ''peace model'' due to its economic progress and stability in monetary arrangements.

CHAIN OF NEGLIGENCE: SIX DIE
An explosion occurred at a fireworks warehouse in Istanbul, killing six people and injuring another. The explosion occurred at a depot in Umraniye on the outskirts of the Asian side of the city.
Fire broke out in the two-storey building after the explosion.
Fire-brigade teams have rushed to the scene of explosion to extinguish the fire.
Istanbul Municipality said the business place did not have operation permission. Meanwhile, the witnesses said a small fire broke out at the same depot six months ago.
CYPRUS SUMMIT
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan wanted UN Security Council to issue a decision to end isolation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Annan did not make a definite promise about it.
Meanwhile, EU ambassadors meeting in Brussels approved the additional protocol and made it ready for signing.

ANNAN TAKES ACTION
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he would be in an effort to start a new good will mission in Cyprus, and noted that an appropriate atmosphere should be found for this.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met UN Secretary General Annan in his office in UN building.
The main topic of the meeting was Cyprus and Iraq.
In a news conference held after the meeting, Annan said he has sent UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Sir Kieran Prendergast to Cyprus, recalling that the representative visited Turkey and Greece following his meetings in the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides.
''We have discussed Cyprus during the talks,'' Annan said and noted that Iraq was also taken up at the meeting. He said, ''we have underlined that international community should work together to ensure stability in Iraq. Turkey will play a very important role as a neighbor of Iraq in the region.''
Replying to a question, Annan said he would continue to launch initiatives in the UN Security Council, and stressed that he would inform the Security Council after he reads the report prepared by Prendergast.
Asked if he would start good will mission, Annan said, ''I always have the good will mission. The parties should be ready for the good will mission to be implemented.''
Annan said he would apply to the Security Council again to end the isolation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

DEADLY NEGLIGENCE
A series of explosions at a fireworks warehouse in Istanbul killed six people and wounded another. The explosions occurred at a depot in Umraniye, on the outskirts of the Asian side of the city. Firefighters arriving in 10 vehicles brought the blaze at the three-storey warehouse under control and recovered the bodies of six people. The dead included a man working at a lathe workshop next to the depot and a boy who had skipped school to be with his father. Sources said that negligence caused the explosions.
