Turkey Sends Observer Group To Lebanon

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey has sent an observer group to Beirut to watch the third stage of the Lebanese elections.
A Foreign Ministry statement noted on Thursday that a four-member observer group composed of Foreign Ministry and research officials were sent to Beirut to watch the third stage of the elections that would be held in Lebanon on June 12th, 2005.
''Turkey wishes the advancement of the democratic process in Lebanon within transparency and in line with the expectations of the international public opinion and the free reflection of the political will of the Lebanese people to the ballots. The completion of the Lebanese elections without any problem carries importance in respect of the peace and stability in the region,'' added the Foreign Ministry.
