ANKARA (AA) - Turkey and Iraq will hold two meetings in Ankara next week, sources said on Thursday.
A meeting on ''transportation safety'' on June 13th and another one on ''Consulate'' on June 16th will be held under the leadership of officials from Foreign Ministries of Turkey and Iraq.
Officials from Turkish Foreign, Interior, Transportation and National Defense Ministries as well as representatives of sector organizations will attend the meeting on ''transportation safety''. Safety conditions in transportation area will be discussed during the meeting.
Iraq will be represented by officials from Iraqi Embassy in Ankara and related authorities from Iraq during the meeting which will be held on technical level.
A high-level participation is expected from Iraq in meetings on ''Consulate''. Residence conditions, visa problems, Habur border gate and new border gate which is planned to be opened as well as opening of mutual consulates will be discussed during these meetings.
During meetings of Iraqi Premier Ibrahim al-Jaafari in Ankara, officials had discussed to open a new border gate in Ovakoy and to open new consulates in Mosul and Istanbul. Turkish officials had conveyed that Turkey can give visa to Iraqi citizens at Habur border gate, and asked Iraq to do the same thing on border gates of Iraq.
Meanwhile, an official invitation was made to Turkey for Iraqi Conference which will be held under the leadership of the EU and the United States in Brussels between June 21st and 22nd. Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul will attend the conference which will be held on foreign ministers level.
On the other hand, second interior ministers meeting of neighboring countries to Iraq is planned to be held in Istanbul in July.
The 9th foreign ministers meeting of neighboring countries to Iraq, which was started by the leadership of Turkey, can be held in Iran in September.
