ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Thursday that the budget surplus in May 2005 was 1,681 million YTL and the primary budget surplus was 5,907 million YTL.
Holding a news conference, Unakitan said, ''in May, the consolidated budget expenses were 12,186 million YTL, the non-surplus budget expenses were 7,961 million YTL, the consolidated budget revenues were 13,867 million YTL, and the budget surplus was 1,681 million YTL. The primary budget surplus was 5,907 million YTL.''
''The tax revenues were 10,087 million YTL, the tax-exempt revenues were 3,623 million YTL, the capital revenues were 17 million YTL, the donations were 19 million YTL, and the supplementary budget additional revenues were 22 million YTL,'' he said.
Unakitan told reporters that the consolidated budget expenses increased by 3.3 percent and the revenues were up by 30.6 percent in May 2005 over the same month of 2004.
''In January-May period, the consolidated budget expenses were 54,855 million YTL, the non-surplus budget expenses were 34,448 million YTL, the consolidated budget revenues were 51,064 million YTL, and the budget deficit was 3,791 million YTL. The primary budget surplus was 16,615 million YTL,'' he said.
Unakitan noted that nominal consolidated budget expenses increased by 1.6 percent and revenues rose by 20 percent in the January-May period of 2005 over the same period of last year.
He stressed that budget deficit, which was 11,432 million YTL in the January-May period of 2004, decreased to 3,791 million YTL in the same period of 2005.
