TBILISI (AA) - A protocol on financial assistance worth of 1.67 million USD from Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) to Georgian Armed Forces was signed in Tbilisi on Thursday.
The protocol was signed by Turkish General Staff Headquarters Defense Resources Administration Department Chief Gen. Ali Akdogan, who is currently in Tbilisi, and Georgian Deputy Chief of General Staff Col. David Nairashvili.
Gen. Akdogan told the A.A correspondent that within the scope of an agreement which took effect in 1996 to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries as well as to contribute to reconstruction of Georgian Armed Forces, Turkey committed to make a donation worth of 1.67 million USD to Georgia in 2005.
''The assistance will mainly be used for logistic projects on which both countries will agree mutually. Remaining part will be used as monetary assistance,'' he added.
Gen. Akdogan said that they attach importance to cooperation with the Georgian Armed Forces.
