ANKARA, Jan 13 (A.A) - Some parts of radar equipments, that were ordered from the U.S. Lockheed Martin company group, which will be established in Istanbul and Canakkale straits, were brought to Istanbul.
All the equipments will be brought to Turkey and established to the two straits after the completion of the contruction of 15 towers, which could not be completed yet. The construction of the towers is included within the scope of the project that was carried out by Maritime Undersecretariat.
A total of 15 watchtowers will be constructed on Istanbul and Canakkale straits. Three others will be constructed in the Marmara Sea. Construction of the watchtowers are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Ship traffic systems will provide passage security with computer system and ship passage traffic in Istanbul and Canakkale Straits and Marmara Sea will be taken under control.
The system is expected to cost approximately 30 trillion Turkish lira.
