TRABZON (AA) - Hansjoerg Kretschmer, head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, said, ''Turkey's EU negotiation process may last until 2013-2014. Length of this process is up to Turkey's speed to implement reforms.''
Holding a news conference on Wednesday, Kretschmer said, ''a historical stage is being experienced about Turkey's EU membership. Turkey will start entry talks on October 3rd. This will be the beginning of a new period.''
''A deep reform process has started in Turkey in political aspect in recent 2-3 years,'' he added.
Noting that they condemn every type of terrorism, Kretschmer said, ''none of the terrorist activities can be tolerated regardless of its reasons. Kurdish people should also be distant against PKK terrorist organization. Such incidents may have several risks regarding the general reform process in the country.''
''Turkish government took every steps to start entry talks in a good way. State Minister Ali Babacan is a perfect choice as chief negotiator. Also the government fulfills every required responsibilities in the process of entry talks,'' he noted.
