ANKARA (AA) - Officials of embassies of Denmark, Switzerland, Canada and Norway in Ankara made a joint statement regarding the posters prepared by the 'TCK Women's Platform' on the new Turkish Penal Code (TCK) and declared that they support Women's Platform.
Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned ambassador of Denmark, and charges d'affaires of Switzerland, Canada and Norway regarding the posters prepared by the 'TCK Women's Platform'. The statement of the embassies reads: ''the embassies expended support to the TCK Women's Platform's briefing campaign, as they support any other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Turkey.'' The embassies also noted that the content of the posters were determined by the 'TCK Women's Platform'.
TCK Women's Platform was established by the Turkish women organizations to brief the Turkish citizens about the women's rights.
The posters which read, ''June 1st, Turkish Penal Code Is Being Changed. So, Continue The Struggle'', include the names of embassies of Denmark, Switzerland, Canada and Norway.
Diplomatic sources said that Turkish Foreign Ministry reminded the executives of the embassies that this issue was related to Turkey's domestic affairs.
The Turkish MFA called on the Danish ambassador and the charges d'affaires to launch initiatives to erase their names from these posters hung in several places in capital Ankara while the diplomats said that the NGO (TCK Women's Platform) had not requested their permission to use their names on the mentioned posters.
