WASHINGTON/ANKARA (AA) - The new three-year stand-by program aims at increasing Turkey's economic performance and reducing ongoing fragility, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said.
In its magazine named ''Survey'', the IMF stated that Turkey had overcome 2000-2001 crisis, reduced inflation, increased growth rate and accomplished the previous IMF program.
The IMF noted that Turkish officials would try to lay the groundwork for a sustainable economic growth, aiming to increase living standards of Turkish people and reducing unemployment, and pointed out that they (Turkish officials) would try to adjust their economy to that of the European Union's (EU) within the framework of this new three-year stand-by arrangement.
