CAIRO (AA) - ''We will develop cooperation between Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Arab League,'' said OIC Secretary General Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Tuesday.
Ihsanoglu held a joint news conference with Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa in Cairo where he paid a visit to seek support of OIC member countries to reform initiatives.
Ihsanoglu said, ''I have met Moussa for the first time since I was elected the secretary general. We want to enhance cooperation between the two organizations. 22 countries which are members of Arab League are also members of OIC.''
''It is necessary to make reforms in OIC, strengthen the organization and have more active the cooperation among Islamic countries. The organization's structure should be revised for further contribution to the world peace,'' he added.
On the other hand, Moussa said that they agreed to develop relations between OIC and Arab League and they will meet in Jeddah soon.
Speaking to Turkish reporters, Moussa said, ''Arab League and OIC should work together in many areas. There are high level relations between Arab League and Turkey. We are very pleased with Turkey's support to solution of problems of Islam world.''
