ANKARA (AA) - Henk De Haan, chairman of the Dutch parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission, said, ''I don't think Turkey's EU membership had an important role in rejection of EU Constitution in referendum in the Netherlands.''
Haan assessed their meetings in Ankara in a news conference in Ankara on Tuesday.
Upon a question, Haan said, ''within the EU, small countries feel insecure against big countries. Rules should be imposed on every country without such a discrimination.''
''Turkey issue could have affected the referendum results to some extent, but it is wrong to link the results generally with Turkey. Majority of Dutch parliament is positive towards the Constitution and start of entry talks with Turkey,'' he noted.
Upon a question about his visit to Sincan F-type prison today, Haan said, ''we are impressed with the conditions in the prison. Turkish prisons meet standards of European prisons.''
Members of Dutch delegation also said that the conditions in the prison prove how Turkey took the reforms seriously.
Dutch delegation will visit southeastern city of Diyarbakir tomorrow and then they will proceed to Istanbul on Thursday. They will depart from Turkey on Saturday.
