ANKARA, Jan 10 (A.A) - Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures have been continuing to paralyze daily life and traffic throughout Turkey.
Sources told the A.A correspondent on Thursday that 73-year-old Dursun Cakir had fallen asleep in front of his house in Topluca village in northern province of Ordu. He froze to death.
Temperatures are expected to drop as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius in eastern province of Erzurum.
In eastern provinces of Van, Bitlis and Hakkari, 139 out of 1,035 blocked village roads were re-opened to traffic.
Heavy snowfall has severed access to 1,191 villages in northeastern pprovinces of Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gumushane, Rize and Trabzon.
Meanwhile, snowfall blocked 1,293 village roads in northern provinces of Samsun, Ordu, Amasya and Sinop.
Many villages in these provinces could not be given electricity.
