Ankara Urges India And Pakistan To Act With Restraint

ANKARA, Jan 10 (A.A) - Turkey has urged Pakistan and India to follow a balanced policy and act with restraint.
Foreign Minister Ismail Cem who met with his Indian counterpart Omer Abdullah who visited Antalya asked him not to escalate tension with Pakistan.
Diplomatic sources told the A.A that Abdullah briefed Cem about the causes of the current tension between the two countries and India's policy.
Cem stated that Turkey maintained good relations with both India and Pakistan and wanted these relations to continue in the same manner. He also maintained that the tension between India and Pakistan was drifting the whole region to instability.
Pakistan's Ambassador in Ankara Kazi Humayun had visited Cem two days before Abdullah's visit. The Pakistani ambassador also met with State Minister Sukru Sina Gurel on Wednesday.
Turkey is trying to follow a balanced policy and trying not to upset either side in its efforts to ease the tension between India and Pakistan.
