Parliament Adopts Bill That Cancels Discriminatory Schedule Of Prices

ANKARA, Jan 8 (A.A) - The parliament adopted on Tuesday night the bill on lifting discriminatory schedule of prices (free or cheap) valid for certain goods and services produced by public institutions.
Under the adopted law, no person or institution will be able to get free of charge or cheaper goods and services produced by public institutions. The law will be valid as of January 1, 2002.
The law also brings Fuel Oil Consumption Tax to natural gas and naphta. Natural gas producing companies will pay 5,000 TL for one cubic meter of natural gas. This will be valid as of May 1, 2002.
Another important change that is brought with the law is the provision which urges every Turkish citizen to pay 70 million liras instead of 50 U.S. dollars before going abroad. Those who visit Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be exempt from paying this fee. This will go into force on Feb. 1, 2002.
