IZMIR, Jan 8 (A.A) - Russia defeated Turkey 2-1 on the first day of the First International Under-16 Aegean Soccer Cup.
Football Federation Aegean Region Director Hamdi Kutval said on Tuesday that Greece could not attend the cup at the last minute and that their opponents in the cup would be considered winners of the match with 3 goals to nil.
Turkey was beaten by Russia 1-2 in Group A match played in Torbali while in the other Group A match played in Selcuk, France defeated Netherlands 4-0.
In Group B match played in Soke, Romania beat Belgium 3-1 and Egypt was considered winners of the match against Greece.
Group matches will continue on Wednesday at Selcuk, Tire and Soke stadiums and Turkey will take on Romania.
