ISTANBUL, Jan 8 (A.A) - A Romanian-flagged cargo vessel ran aground in Istanbul Straits.
Sources said on Tuesday that 2,983 gross tonne ''Sunrise-K'' had run aground between Buyukdere and Selviburnu at about 6 a.m. while crossing the Istanbul Straits.
Sources said that after discharge of its cargo at Mersin Port in Mediterranean Sea, the vessel had departed for Constanza and entered the Marmara Sea after passing the Aegean Sea.
The vessel which is 98 meters in length and 14 meters in width has 13 crew aboard, sources added.
Sources said the captain of Sunrise-K had not requested for help from Coast Guard and Vessel Rescue Enterprises Directorate General yet.
