ATHENS - Turkish Justice Minister Cemil Cicek and Greek Justice Minister Anastasios Papaligouras signed a judicial cooperation protocol in Greek capital of Athens on Wednesday.
During the signature ceremony, Cicek said that it would be beneficial for the two countries to share their experiences about their similar problems.
Cicek noted that judges, prosecutors and jurists from Turkey and Greece would visit each other's countries as a part of this cooperation.
On the other hand, Papaligouras said that Turkey should integrate with the European Union (EU) in the area of justice, and stated that this protocol had started a new cooperation between Turkey and Greece in areas of security, freedom and justice to which the EU attached great importance.
Papaligouras noted that some seminars and training programs would be organized as a part of this protocol.
Pointing out that Cicek and he discussed Turkish inmates in Greek prisons, Papaligouras hoped that concrete progress would be made in sending of Turkish inmates from Greek prisons to Turkish prisons.
Cicek is expected to depart from Athens after he meets Greek Parliament Speaker Anna Psarouda-Benaki tomorrow (Thursday).
