ISTANBUL, Jan 7 (A.A) - Oger Tours, a leading travel agency in Germany, broke a record by obtaining 1 billion 100 million German marks turnover in 2001, being one of the five biggest tour operators in Germany.
Oger Holding Company Coordinator General Sinan Vardar told the A.A correspondent on Monday that there was 15 percent increase in travel market in Turkey in 2000 and stated that they brought almost 500 thousand workers and 1 million German tourists to Turkey in 2001.
Vardar said, ''we are ranked the first with the number of tourists we sent from Germany and with the foreign exchange income we obtained. German tourists whom we sent to Turkey last year have spent almost 1 billion German marks in Turkey.''
Sinan Vardar noted, ''the value of Oger Tours is around 350-400 million German marks currently in Germany and the average of the company's fame in Germany reached 74 percent. We have provided 4-5 billion German marks income for Turkey in last 7-8 years.''
Vardar said, ''we expect at least 15 percent increase in the number of the tourists and foreign exchange income in 2002.''
Oger Tours broke a record with a 1 billion 100 million German marks turnover in 2001, being one of the top five tour operators in Germany, Vardar stated.
Pointing out that Oger was a company bringing the most tourists and providing foreign exchange to Turkey, Sinan Vardar stated, ''we are the only operator organizing flights between Antalya and Istanbul in winter by coming to Turkey and our contribution to winter tourism cannot be rejected.''
Pointing out that yearly advertisement budget of Oger Tours was 15 million German marks in Germany, Vardar said, ''this figure is almost equal to advertisement budget of Turkey in the world. We will exert utmost effort to make contribution to the promotion of the country from now on.''
Noting that Association of Turkish Tour Operators was set up almost two months ago, Vardar said, ''we will work for inclusion of their foreign exchange income in content of exportation.''
